While it is true that Liechtenstein is one of the world’s smallest countries, it does not mean that there is nothing for you here to enjoy and behold. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Like other famed tourist attractions, the country has a lot to offer, whether what you are looking forward to is some outdoor adventure, romantic getaway, or just some resting and relaxation.

One thing that you need to know about this country is that a trip to this hidden European gem is best for those who truly want to experience what it is like being in a place with unspoiled beauty. From the beautiful Rhine Valley, to its quaint villages, and to its multitude of cultural attractions, you can rest assure that your visit here is going to be really worth it. Take a look below at the top places that you should head to while in the country.

Serving as the country’s capital, Vaduz is best known for the impressive structure called the Vaduz Castle. Sitting majestically on top of a hill that affords great views of the city, the castle is actually the Royal Family’s place of residence. It is the most important symbol of the country, which is why you will find it on many items, such as commemorative stamps, paintings, and other works of art. The National Art Gallery, the National Museum, and the FIS Ski Museum are all worth checking out while you are here.

Schaan is a 5 minute-drive from the city of Vaduz, to the north of Liechtenstein’s capital. It affords some of the most stunning views of the Alps, which is why you should definitely include this town in your itinerary.  From here, you may also want to take a day trip to the neighboring Zurich, which is already in Switzerland. Make sure you do this after you have toured this Lisbon town as there are so many things for you to marvel at, such as the Alpine scenery, the exhibits at the DoMus Museum and the Schaan Museum as well as plenty of other churches, historic buildings, and iconic structures.

Next we have the Planken Village, situated to the north eastern part of Schaan. From Vaduz or Schaan, the drive will just take about 15 minutes. Make sure that you allocate some time for a trip to this charming village for an entire day, especially if you are looking for some rest and relaxation. The village is set in the mountains, so you definitely will enjoy its fresh air while enjoying majestic panoramic views of the Rhine Valley. If you are up to some serious hiking, you will be happy to know that Planken has some awesome steep trails for you to enjoy.

Lastly is the Triesenbergvillage. You can get here in just 10 minutes if you’re coming from Vaduz. It is above sea level, so you can expect it as a place where you can get breathtaking views of the Alps and the Rhine Valley. A trip to this part of Liechtenstein is perfect any time of the year, especially if you want some outdoor fun such as bird-spotting, hiking, trailing, and biking.
